We’ve all been waiting for the late night winter games to come back, and boys’ basketball kicked off their season opener with a big fat Warrior W! Here is a recap in case you missed the first game. To start the game, Coach Tait started sophomores Max Hackney and Dominic Loelhe, senior Freddie Crawford, and captains, Tae Simmons and Dillan Shaw.

Starting off the first quarter, we ended up losing the tip off, and we were down by a few points, however we quickly recovered with an easy layup by captain Tae Simmons. Shortly after, the crowd instantly got hyped by an incredible dunk from Shaw. The boys maintained a strong man defense which granted them many steals and easy rebounds. They were driving towards the basket and knocking down three’s. After getting fouled, captain Dillan Shaw made both his free throws with ease, ending off quarter one with a 23-7 lead for our warriors.

The second and third quarter continued to show a lot of great chemistry with the Simmon brothers. The dynamic-duo, freshman Eli Simmons and senior Tae Simmons played defensively and offensively together. Shortly into the second quarter, Tae Simmons had a huge block which ended up in huge cheers by the crowd, having everyone in the gym up from their seats. Quarter two ended up in a 45-15 lead.

During halftime, both our Cheer and Dance teams had amazing performances to hype up the crowd. In the third quarter, the boys were dunking left and right, and nothing could stop the crowds cheering. Despite the big lead, the boys kept playing hard, still fighting and not slacking off, ending off quarter three in a 65-36 lead.

Coming to an end, the starting five came back onto the court to finish the game in the fourth quarter. The team kept making crazy points, and at one point they had a three person alley-oop; ending the game in a 82-48 big warrior win! Captains, Simmons and Shaw, scored 24 points each, not only leading the most scored points, but also leading their team to victory. Stay tuned for the rest of this season and maybe a championship ring!
